DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSMAN INDICTED
PHILADELPHIA — U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah paid off an illegal $1 million campaign loan with federal grants and charitable donations, funneled campaign funds toward his son's student loans and disguised a lobbyist's bribe as payment for a Porsche his TV anchor wife never sold, prosecutors said in announcing a racketeering indictment against him.
The 11-term Democrat from Philadelphia led a conspiracy that engaged in bribery, fraud, money laundering and other crimes and netted him hundreds of thousands of dollars, federal investigators said.
The indictment describes four schemes, two involving efforts to erase debts from Fattah's failed 2007 mayoral bid. The U.S. Department of Justice charged that Fattah used federal grants and donations to his educational foundations to pay back part of the wealthy donor's $1 million loan.
Fattah is the second sitting federal lawmaker to be indicted this year on corruption charges. New Jersey U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, also a Democrat, was indicted on federal corruption charges less than four months ago; he denied the allegations.

Florida authorities believe a self-proclaimed voodoo priest used his power of persuasion to sexually manipulate women.
Sunrise Police are calling for more victims to step forward after Brogenet Cinor, 48, was arrested last month and charged with the rape of an 11-year-old girl. His power emanated from a true belief that the victims would die if they did not follow his instructions.

The accident occurred on the family's farm in Cylinder, Iowa. They were fixing a pump at a hog confinement when a piece of equipment fell into the pit. The son went into the pit to try to retrieve the equipment but was overcome by fumes. His father jumped in to rescue him, but both were submerged.
Fire and rescue personnel removed the men from the pit and transported them to in Emmetsburg's Palo Alto County Hospital, where they died.

Trump's remarks aren't the first time the real estate mogul has expressed fondness for the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate.
Earlier this year, Trump called Palin beautiful and remarked that he felt honoured by a skit she took part in during the "Saturday Night Live" 40th anniversary special, in which the Alaskan joked, that the pair could run on a ticket together in 2016.
When Palin turned 50 last year, Trump wrote her a letter praising her as a "spectacular woman."

A mother brutally killed her father and young daughter at a Lakeland, Fla., home two weeks before fabricating an elaborate missing person case to cover her tracks, authorities have alleged.
“This is the face and the eyes of a cold-blooded murderer,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said holding up a photo of the mother’s stony-hearted face at a press conference.
Authorities arrested 25-year-old Cheyanne Jessie after finding the bodies of her 50-year-old father, Mark Weekly, and his 6-year-old granddaughter, Meredith Jessie, slain and stashed in a neighbor’s shed.
